How to get reminders about Apple AirPods being left behind
With the iOS 15 update, Apple has added a new alert feature called Notify When Left Behind to Find My app. The new feature notifies users when they leave their AirTag and other Apple devices behind.
The AirPods have also received the support for separation alert with the latest October 2021 firmware update which made finding AirPods easier using the Find My app.
In this guide, we will tell you everything about how the separation alert works on AirPods and how to enable it so that you can get a notification in case you accidentally leave them somewhere.
How does the feature work
The new Notify When Left Behind is designed to notify users whenever they leave a Find My compatible device somewhere in an unknown location allowing users to grab them back before it’s too late.
The feature sets a Trusted location which means it won’t notify you always when you leave your AirPods at that location. The user’s home address is automatically set to the Trusted location.
Now, all you need to do is update the AirPods Pro to its latest firmware version, set up the home address on your smartphone and enable the feature.
How to enable the new Notify When Left Behind featurePre-requisites:
1. Update your iPhone with the latest firmware update
2. Open Find My app on your iPhone or iPad and choose the Devices tab
3.Download and install the latest firmware update on AirPods Pro
4.Select AirPods Pro from the list and tap on Notify When Left Behind to turn on the toggle
5.Under Notify Me, Except At section, tap on New location and enter your Trusted Location where you don’t want to get notifications
Apple also allows users to set the location using a map or directly enter the address. Users also have the option to set a perimeter around the trusted location.
Once everything is set up, tap Done. Going forward, you’ll start receiving notifications if you leave your AirPods behind at an unknown location.
