That's why Facebook is shutting down the facial recognition system

Facebook or Meta has announced to stop the feature called Facial Recognition. At the same time, the company has also announced to delete 100 crore face prints. The announcement was made by Facebook on Tuesday (November 2).

According to a report in the British media The Guardian, facial recognition technology will be discontinued in the future. One-third of Facebook users accepted the service. Jerome Pesenti, vice president of Facebook's artificial intelligence division, said the service was still being shut down.

Facebook used to automatically identify users of facial recognition systems. Pictures of those who agreed to use the technology were picked up from anywhere on Facebook and suggested for tagging. That is, the identity of the users was automatically confirmed through facial recognition technology.

This is the main reason why facial recognition is being stopped. There is a risk of personal privacy being violated through the technology due to the disclosure of identity. As a result, the world's largest social media does not want to take any kind of risk.

"Facial recognition systems are a powerful technology for verifying identity," said Jerome Pesenti, Facebook's vice president. Personal privacy and transparency must be firmly established in determining what works human images are being used for. There are various concerns in the society about the use of facial recognition. We think it's a good idea to limit the technology to such uncertainties. "
