Samsung smartphones getting this feature for faster digital payments

Samsung has launched a new Scan QR feature that allows users to make digital payments easily. The feature enables users to make QR code payments by opening the camera or selecting the Scan QR code option from the Quick Panel. The company claims that it has customised the feature to make it suitable for its users in India. This feature is currently live on Samsung Pay compatible devices and users must have the latest software update installed on their smartphone to use it.

With camera and Scan QR integration, payments can be initiated with minimal clicks. The QR Scan integration is being expanded to other Galaxy devices with FOTA and software updates. As of now, the feature is live across Galaxy Z series, Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy S20 series, Galaxy Note20 series, Galaxy Note 10 series, Galaxy M series, Galaxy A series and Galaxy F series.

How to use the Scan QR feature on your Samsung smartphone?

  • Make sure that your smartphone has the latest software update installed.
  • Open the camera app and scan the UPI QR code.
  • Select the option to pay with Samsung Pay.
  • Enter the amount.
  • Type in your UPI PIN and complete the payment.
Samsung says that its R&D team has built the feature specifically for India as the country is witnessing a monumental growth in Scan and Pay. It looks like the company is trying to boost Samsung Pay adoption in India with this feature.

Launched in 2017, Samsung Pay digitally stores cards, debit cards, digital wallets. It also allows customers to make contactless card payments using magnetic secure transmission (MST) technology, which mimics the card swipe on any point of sale (PoS) terminal.
