This is how Facebook’s Apple Watch rival may look like

Facebook is reportedly working on its first Apple Watch-rival smartwatch. The device will be launched under the newly announced Meta company. A photo of the upcoming smartwatch has leaked online. As per a report by Bloomberg, Facebook smartwatch may come with a round screen and a camera housed in a display notch. The notch will be similar to what we see on smartphones, except it will be placed at the bottom of the screen, instead at the top.

The photo was found inside the iPhone app for Facebook Ray-Ban Stories smart glasses called Facebook View. It was spotted by app developer Steve Moser and shared with Bloomberg News. In the leaked image, one can also see a control button for the smartwatch placed at the right side.

The presence of the image in the smart glasses app indicates that the watch could be managed on both iPhones and Android devices using the app. It may debut as ‘Milan’ as per the code.

First smartwatch to come with camera

The camera at the bottom of the display suggests that it may be used for capturing photos, videos and for video conferencing as well. Till date, no smartwatch from either Apple, which offers global best-selling Apple Watch, or other brands offer a camera.

Facebook smartwatch will have a detachable wrist strap. The watch case may feature a button at the top.

Facebook smartwatch may launch in 2022

Facebook has yet to officially acknowledge the smartwatch. But rumours say that the smartwatch may launch as early as 2022. According to a person with knowledge of the matter, the final decision on timing hasn’t been made yet and the debut could be later, Bloomberg report says.

At present, Facebook (now Meta) is reportedly working on three generations of the product that are aimed at different release time frames.
